Floodwaters from the Gasconade River have closed the eastbound lanes of Interstate 44 near Hazelgreen in Laclede County.
The detour for motorists and commercial motor carriers traveling eastbound on I-44 is Route 5 to Route 7 to Route 133 to I-44, approximately 49 miles. The Missouri Department of Transportation has put up barriers at the closures, as well as signs to mark the detours.
“We will continue to monitor this area until the floodwaters recede,” said MoDOT Central District Engineer David Silvester.
Drivers are encouraged to check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map, located at www.modot.org, or call the department’s toll free number, 1-888-ASK-MODOT, to get updated information on road conditions.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory through Monday evening.
The advisory covers Barton, Bates, Cedar, Dade, Henry, Jasper, Lawrence, Newton (MO), St. Clair and Vernon Counties. It lasts through 6:00 p.m. Monday.
Rain will transition to a mixture of sleet, snow and freezing drizzle. Light snow and ice pellet accumulations of a half inch or less will happen across the advisory area. Slick spots are possible on roadways. Wind chills are also expected to fall throughout the day.

The body of a driver, missing since Sunday, has been recovered from a flooded creek south of Ava.
Kevin Lee, 52, did not return from a neighbors home late Sunday night after crossing a swollen creek. His body was found about two miles downstream.
His death is the tenth related to heavy rain since Saturday night in the Ozarks.
Tournament organizers at the Blue and Gold had to evacuate JQH Arena Monday.
It happened during the Republic vs. Fair Grove game Monday around midday. Water in the bowel of the arena set off a fire alarm. The evacuation lasted about 30 minutes.
The tournament's quarterfinals last throughout the day.
The Army Corps of Engineers increased the spillway release Monday from Table Rock Dam because of the persistent rainfall.
This morning ten spillway gates were opened four and one-half feet releasing 58,500 cubic feet per second in addition to the 8,500 c.f.s. being released through the turbine generators. The total release is 67,000 c.f.s. The lake is expected to crest tomorrow between 935 and 936 feet above sea level. Hourly inflows into the lake are currently 300,000 c.f.s.

More than 50 residents of a Mountain Grove neighborhood have returned home after they were evacuated Monday morning for a dam break threat.
BNSF Railroad had advised firefighters of a chance the Lily Lake dam could break soon. The homes evacuated are in the area of West 1st and West North Briton Roads.
The water began to recede shortly after 9:00 a.m.
